We conducted an in-house interview with Heejoo Jung, a college student intern in the GeoAI business team of MuhanIT.

Over the past month, the GeoAI business team said that it was meaningful to be able to apply the theory to the practice.

I heard more about how you feel about your internship at MuhanIT.

Q. What kind of work did you do?

-

Using ArcGIS Urban, we performed urban planning and optimization scenarios.

ArcGIS Urban is GIS software that enables efficient urban planning, but it has not been used much by the public, so it has acquired the program and produced the ArcGIS Urban usage manual to make it easier for users to understand and utilize.

In addition, we directly selected a target site to establish urban planning, create various scenarios, conduct simulations, and compare and analyze carbon emissions and energy usage for each scenario to derive the optimal scenario.

Q. How do you feel about your internship at MuhanIT and your first social life?

-

Through this internship experience, I realized that the attitude and responsibility toward work are as important as the ability to work. I learned how important it is to take responsibility until the end and perform positively even if there are difficulties.

You helped me a lot in working because you helped me learn the work process quickly. I think my first social experience will remain a happy memory thanks to your always caring and encouraging. Thank you.

Q. How do you feel about converting your existing panel to a digital-based (GIS platform)?

-

Unlike traditional panel urban planning learned in school, digital-based urban planning has allowed for much more specific and fluid data use. ArcGIS Urban enabled us to experience future urban planning not only through data analysis but also through various scenarios that cities may face, which allowed us to anticipate and plan the city's population, jobs, carbon emissions, and energy usage.

In particular, the GIS platform was able to analyze traffic changes or the impact of increasing green space when certain buildings or jobs were added, which was very convenient and practical in that it allowed for dynamic planning that could be updated continuously as the city grew.

These experiences have made me realize once again how important the GIS platform plays in the field of urban planning.
